So, best laid plans fell completely through - it's been over a month since my last post. In a small bit of defense, things have been really hectic around here since Thanksgiving. Between having my MIL visit for Thanksgiving, a big event at the barn, the knitters holiday party at my house, a weird arm injury (that thankfully healed quickly) and getting ready for Christmas, it's been go, go, go. And while I felt like I wasn't getting much knitting time, you'll see that has not really been the case. Here's the lineup of finishes between November 15 and December 14. Too many to link, but you can find them all on my Ravelry projects page if you'd like more complete info.
Just Enough Ruffles Scarf - Brooks Farm Mas Acero
A set I made to wear to the barn on these cold, cold mornings. Very Warm Hat (reversible) / Worsted Wristlettes / a mini version of the Noro Striped Scarf with buttonhole and button - Cornelia Hamilton Heaven's Hand Wool Classic
Very Warm Hat (single layer) for my husband - Cascade 220
Shedir Chemo Cap - Rowan Calmer
Very Cably Mittens - Cascade 220 - for my friend, Blogless Diana, who asked for mittens.
Also for Diana, because I had extra yarn - Cable-Ended Scarf, also Cascade 220.
This is a hat I knit at the beginning of the year, and recently completely frogged and reknit because it was WAY too big. A Fetching Ladies Beret - Rowan Lima
Twisted Rib Watchcap - Malabrigo Rios. A lovely, soft superwash wool. This one was for the woman who is the director of the therapeutic riding program at the barn, and the next is for the program's instructor.
One of the fun parts of the knitters holiday party is the gift exchange. We used to do the kind where you can steal from each other, but decided to just let everyone draw a number to decide order, and then pick the package they like. My contribution this year was a sewn bag that can be folded into it's own pouch. I had a lot of fun picking the fabric and sewing the bag. Maybe after the first of the year, I can get around to making one for myself.
On the needles now, another pair of socks for my husband, and an afghan for him, as well. Neither are going to be finished by the end of the year, so I guess I'll close this post with a count of the knitting I've finished this year.
- 1 baby hat
- 2 shawls (both Citron)
- 2 pairs fingerless mitts
- 26 hats/berets (although maybe the reversible ones should count as two??)
- 5 lace shawls (including the one for my cousin's daughter's wedding)
- 2 pair mittens
- 3 neckwarmers
- 12 scarves
- 3 sweaters
- 9 "tit bits"
- 17 pairs of socks (hmm, really slacked off on socks this year!)
That's a grand total of 71 knitted items.
And now, given my track record of non-blogging lately, I'd best wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I'm home until the 30th, when I'll take to the skies to visit Jim in DC for New Year's. I'd make a resolution to be a better blogger next year, but perhaps it would be best to just see how it goes. But I'll do my very best. See you in 2011!!
