After three days of no internet (except via my iPhone,) it's nice to be back. After too many dropped signals due to rain, snow, and clouds, we decided to dump the satellite dish for tv and replace it with broadband, upgrading our DSL to broadband at the same time. Installation of both was scheduled for Wednesday. They came out on time, turned off the DSL (but not the tv, thank goodness,) found a problem with the box outside, and left. An hour later, another guy showed up, checked the box, pronounced it "fine," and he, too, left. He told me they would call to reschedule, but by 8:00 that night I hadn't heard a word. So I phoned, got set up for today, and wonder of wonders, the installer came two hours early! Three hours after that we have really cool tv service, and blazingly fast internet. Color me satisfied.
While waiting for installers, I did so much knitting over the last three days that I almost finished a pair of socks. But before the internet blackout, these items came off my needles.
- Baktus. Designed as a scarf, mine came out large enough to be called a shawl. It's a versatile length and width that can be worn with point in back and long ends knotted in the front, or with point in front and ends wrapped twice around. I finished this last Saturday, just in time to bundle up with it in Sunday's cold.
- The yarn is Bristol Yarn Gallery "Buckingham." A blend of 80% alpaca / 20% silk, it made a soft, squooshy, drapey fabric. I love it!
