Which also happens to be my FIFTH Blogiversary! Hard to believe I've been doing this for five years. Over those years, I've made so many friends, both those I've met in person and those I know only virtually. You have all enriched my life, broadened my knitting horizons, and swelled my stash. While many of us have been sucked into the black hole that is Ravelry, Blogland is still my favorite place to visit every day. Thank you for being there for me all these years, and I look forward to what lies ahead.
Although this post appears to be a current entry, it was written several days ago from the comfort of my living room easy chair. Right now, I'm visiting relatives in a place far from home. And therein lies the cornerstone of my Fifth Blogiversary Contest. All you have to do is leave a guess in the comments as to where I am and you could be the winner of these fabulous prizes:
- Schaefer Anne sock yarn.
- Sock bag to hold the yarn
- Calendar to keep track of how long it takes you to knit socks from the yarn
Because I want to make this contest a bit easier I'll throw in a couple of hints about where I am.
- It's a four hour plane ride from Atlanta
- It's in the continental United States
- It's a lot hotter than it is at home
- There is unusual (to me) vegetation
- There is also some unusual (to me) animal life
If more than one person guesses the location (and since I've given you the clue that it's in the U.S., the guess need only be what State) the random number generator will pick the winner. (And some of you already know where I am, but you can enter, too. Just say hi, or have a nice trip - but DON'T give it away!) I'll be gone until Friday night, so leave your comment by midnight (EST) of the 20th. Good luck! And have a fun St. Patrick's Day, too.
The Grand Canyon? I think I'm too late to enter but since most everyone else said Arizona I thought I'd be more specific.

Hey, Happy Blogiversary! Five is a great age to be.
I'm going to guess New Mexico, because when I was there I was convinced I was on a different planet--like one of the ones on an old Star Trek episode, except the sky was still blue in NM--puzzling, sinc if it had been an old Star Trek episode, if should have been purple or pink or something. I'm also guessing Arizona. Lived in Tucson for 10 years - it's got soul-sucking heat, strange and lovely desert-y/cactus-y vegetation and the fauna include javelina, gila monster lizards, rattlesnakes and many other animals that can maim/kill you.

Well, since I'm from Arizona - that's where I'm going to guess. I'd say Tucson (again, since that's where I'm from and its really way more fun than Phoenix). :)
Of course, I suppose Nevada would work too. Or something I'm not thinking of...

We've got relatives in Arizona and boy does it ever get hot and do they ever have some odd looking flora and fauna!

Haven't a clue where you are, but I'll guess New Mexico...it fits the criteria, I think and I visited Carlsbad when I was six and have remembered it with great fondness for (yikes!) almost 50 years.
