Tuesday
Even though we are still laboring under a drought, the weather has been almost uniformly cloudy for the last week or so. Every day, gloomy, gloomy, gloomy. And with little rain to make it worth while. The only good thing is that as cloudy as it was on Sunday, it didn't rain on the Stitch 'n Pitch baseball game.
Jim and I went on the bus trip sponsored by Knitch, and it was so much fun. Along with the tickets and bus ride, Kim gave each person a really nice goodie bag, filled with yarn, t-shirt, snacks, water, and a discount coupon for a future purchase at Knitch. Jim was very patient with all the knitting and carrying on, and thankfully was able to enjoy a pretty good ball game. Although, I only know that because he told me. I wasn't paying a bit of attention to what was happening down on the field. How would that have been possible, with people like this to distract me?
Even though the Braves were playing the Pirates, the shirts in no way indicate approval of the "bad guys." That's Nancy, Famous Steve, and Claudia showing their support for our favorite pastime - no, not baseball - KNITTING!
I brought along my current sock, and while I didn't finish it at the game, enough progress was made for me to complete the pair last night.
- Baby Cable Rib Socks from Sensational Knitted Socks.
- Cider Moon 'Icicle' yarn in the Habenero colorway.
I really like this sock yarn. The 100% superwash merino is amazingly soft and the color is obviously very vibrant. Highly recommended!
Recently, I became the proud owner of some amazingly beautiful handspun yarn.
One of the prizes Claudia was giving out for contributions to her MS Ride last month, this beautiful yarn was spun and donated by Stephanie. Now I just have to find the perfect pattern. Thanks so much Claudia and Stephanie!!
I'm still working on both shawls (MS3 and Summer Things,) but having finished the socks, needed another mindless project. Since I still have the big-drawer-o-scarf-projects, it seemed right that should be the place to look. I dove in and came up with this.
The pattern is Wavy from Knitty. I'm using Silky Tweed, instead of the called for Cascade 220. So far, it's a fast and easy pattern. However, I'm not sure why I chose such a dark green color.
And finally, there's good news and bad news regarding my war with the bird seed eating squirrels. The good news - they HATE the Cajun seasoned seed. The bad news - so do the birds. On to Plan C. As soon as I figure out what that will be. Sigh.

I will SO be at SnP next year... bad timing this year - It's kind of hard to bring a 2-week old to the ballfield! Love the shirts. And that handspun is very very pretty.
Hopefully I'll be able to start getting out of the house more in the next few weeks - maybe I'll be able to make it to an intown knitters night or....? Where are you SnBing these days?

I'm glad you had a good time at Stitch n Pitch. I wish Detroit's game wasn't so late...I have to wait until Sept!
I can't believe you have yarn spun by the Harlot. I am green with envy. What a treasure! Whatever will you do with it?
Here's hoping for some rain for you (we need it desperately here too) None in sight. Ugh.
And it goes without saying, another lovely pair of socks!

I was wondering if you both got bags too so you could snag Jim's yarn. :) Love your newest socks! Cider Moon has beautiful colors!

they apparently had something similar at a Cardinals game, however I didn't find out about it until it was too late.
Looks like a lot of fun!

Does that mean you got TWO goodie bags?!!? Good job Big Jim!!! That sounds like so much fun, but was it really hot??? I love the scarf you are making, its really very nice. And I finally was able to see the video of the squirrel! OMG ROTFL!!! I think you should send it to the company!

I think our Brewers were supposed to have a Stitch'n'Pitch but I couldn't find any publicity {grrr} Your socks are eye-wateringly beautiful and - where DID they get those fabulous t-shirts?? I've seen other pirate knitter ones but can I find them"? Nawwww, of course not.
You know, the Braves uster be from HERE (as in "Milwaukee Braves") and I probably wouldn't know that, but we just opened a new exhibit at our Museum about 1957, when the Milwaukee Braves won the World Series! We even have Hank Aaron's jersey and a signed baseball and wossname! The truth is - I DO sort of like baseball, but I tend to go to games for the same reason I go several places: the FOOD. {walks away humming "buy me some peanuts and Craaaaacker Jacks, I don't know if I'll ever go back...."}

LOL! I recognized that handspun immediately from the Harlot's blog. Very pretty.
I love those t-shirts. Jinx.com has great t-shirts, mostly computer game oriented, but that one takes the cake.

Gorgeous socks! And congrats on the yarn win - that is LOVELY and very special yarn indeed. Heh, if I ever go to SnP, I won't have a clue what's going on on the field, either.

Look at all the nice stuff. Nice socks! I like Stephanie's handspun too. I love spinning yarn that looks like that. Well not that even but you get the idea. I like the barberpole effect.

I thought y'all's seats were supposed to be in the shade! Those are great t-shirts. Sounds like you had fun.
I feel so out of the loop these days. :(

Oh, that handspun is pretty. If there's anything that's going to make me want to learn to spin, it's going to be barberpole yarn. I haven't met a hank I didn't like. ; )
Love the shirts!

You won Harlots handspun? I think that is SO COOL!! Would it sound totally fangirl to think about framing it? hee hee. Nevermind.. then you couldn't squish it if it was behind glass.
