Random Monday

Lots of "stuff" and not much knitting to show today.  Over the weekend, I managed to finish my mystery project.  All that remains to be done is some assemblage, and I should to be able to show you my masterpiece sometime soon.  In the meantime, I have pictures of other things.

First, for Sandy, some weekend sky pictures.

Despite all the clouds, it was still hotter than, well, you know.  And while some areas got a nice drenching rain, it seems that we managed to miss it wherever we went.  None graced us at either house, and even though we saw a fabulous light show on Saturday night as we were driving downtown for dinner, by the time we got to our destination, the rain had passed.  To top it off, late Friday afternoon a very big water main was breached in our county and the weekend was spent under a "boil water advisory."  Fortunately, that has been put to right, and all the clouds seem to have gone away as well.

Sunday, we went over to the new house to see how the painters are progressing (almost finished!)  While checking out the tile job in our bathroom, I took in the view.  The most notable feature was Jim's new ride gracing the not-so-new driveway.

Shiny!  Here's a wider view, showing the "jungle" portion of our yard.

The tall plant on the corner is a crepe myrtle.  Its blossoms are just fading from their bright red color.  Crepe myrtle are ubiquitous in Atlanta, but these are the first I've ever owned.  They need quite a bit of trimming, but the area where they are planted in a bit of a semi-circle would be a nice spot for a chair and little table.  Too hot to sit out right now, it would be so pleasant in the early Spring and Fall.

We have lots of plants here at my current abode, as well.  Hostas line the path along the front of the house, and every year Jim frets because they bloom so much later than everyone else's.  I keep reminding him that they always wait until the end of July to flower, but he always forgets.  Thank goodness I like to take flower pictures, so I can show him just when they appear.  They just began the other day.

I'm glad we are getting to enjoy these pretty things one last time before we move.

And now for something completely different.  Last night, Jim and I went to The New American Shakespeare Tavern to see "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged).  Now, I've seen some funny plays at the Tavern, but this one takes the cake!  It's on for one more week, and I suggest you hurry and get tickets - you won't regret it!   On the way home, Jim stopped to gas up his car, and this was lounging at the next pump.

Whoa!  I've seen cars with ads plastered all over them, but this was a first.  I was disappointed, however, to see that the front looked normal.  I was hoping for that pointy front end you see on jets.  But how strange and wonderful anyway.

So that's it from here.  I'm going to be working on my Manos afghan and trying to finish the white lace scarf I started some time ago.  Both should qualify for this month's Project Spectrum colors.  Of course, I may get sidetracked by actually moving into our new house.  Hey, stop laughing - it could happen!!!

oh yes, it qualifies for Project Spectrum!

It's hot up here in the north, too (but is supposed to break tonight/tomorrow). Nice ride, Jim! I bet you'll be able to tuck a bunch of hostas in at your new place. Depending on when you close on your old house, you can probably get away with a few "needed divisions".

Love the photo of the Delta car! Given Itgirl's recent experiences with Delta, you just have find it ironic. Anyhoo Sawhorse is a bust. It's been a month and we have received one email and no call backs despite several on our part. *sigh* I think I shall complain. Any other ideas?

That Mini is a hoot! I think I immediately would rip one of the wings off turning or trying to park...

Looks like a great yard! New car looks good, too! Hosta blooms never impress me, but I love the leaves. My BIL works for Delta there in ATL, wonder if he's seen that car?

Beautiful pictures you've got there!

I didn't know hostas got flowers. That's so pretty.

Good luck with the move.

P.S. It's hotter than you know where here too. At lunch today the power went out at the shopping center. It's doesn't take long for the temperature to start climbing. I noticed the Panera cleared out pretty fast.

Great pictures! The car looks awesome! I am LMAO at the jet car. :)
