Looks like my blog came through the weekend Typepad renovation unscathed. Here's hoping it stays that way, because I know they are still tinkering with the system.
It was a beautiful fall weekend here, and we were able to get out and enjoy it. On Saturday, we went to Piedmont Park to have lunch at the Park Tavern. It was one of those afternoons when it's really too chilly to sit and eat in the shade, but a table in the sun was just the thing. I was sad that we missed Greyfest, though. The group that supports greyhound rescue had a tent set up behind the restaurant, and there were dogs everywhere (in addition to all the other kinds of dogs and their owners that frequent the park.) They seemed to be having a raffle, contests with the dogs, and other fun activities. But Jim was too hungry to go there first, and by the time the good food made it through the usually agonizingly slow service, they were gone. So we strolled around the park a bit and then drove over to Atlantic Station. I'd been through the main area before on the way to Ikea, but Jim and I parked and walked through all the development. Built on the property of an old steel mill, this mixed use development is another piece of burgeoning Midtown. Apartments, condos, lofts, attached, and single-family homes form a boundary to office space and a mini-mall complete with movie theater, grocery store, and all the usual shops and restaurants. I don't think I'd want to live in such an aggressively urban setting, but I did find a new home at the outskirts of the development that I HAVE to have! I'm awaiting information from the builder as I type. I know it will be out of our price range, but a girl has to dream.
Yesterday, I spent the morning knitting the alien scarf - only two and a half aliens to go - and then Jim and I joined Cory and his girlfriend at the Shakespeare Tavern for their production of Two Gentlemen of Verona. My goodness, that was FUNNY! The actors there always do a wonderful job, but comedy is really where they shine. If you are in the area, I highly recommend attending one of their performances. We ended the evening with a wonderful dinner at Einstein's, a long-time favorite near Piedmont Park. They've recently renovated the space, and it's fantastic.
Ok, time to get back to the aliens. If I apply myself, I might just have it finished by tonight - except for the blocking it really needs. Yikes, how it curls!! If I were to do this again, I'd add a garter stitch border. And then it will be time for ........
