There seem to be a lot of contests going on around blogland lately, and I've decided to jump on board. Details can be found at the end of this post, so if you only care about winning something, go ahead and scroll on down. Or, stop along the way and see what else I have to say. Either way, your choice.
I've been waiting since September 20 for this little beauty to hit my doorstep.
IPod Nano. Black. 4 gig. And, according to the Fed Ex shipping site, currently sitting on the dock in Shenzhen, China awaiting who knows what approval. Most likely along with several hundred thousand of its little friends, because it doesn't seem the 4 gig models are available anywhere in the U.S. including the local Apple stores. Estimated delivery date? October 4. We'll see.
In knitting, I've finished the Cinxia sweater up to the point where I put down the body and start to knit the sleeves. Two of them. Only problem is, I can't get to my dpn's. Well, I could, but it would involve moving and replacing five big stacks of books that are sitting on the floor in front of the closet door. You see, I had a minor renovation setback. On Monday, I took my not so little self to IKEA and purchased three Billy bookcases. Of course, I measured first (ahem, about three months ago) so I was secure in the knowledge that I was getting exactly what I needed. Jim manfully carried the flat pack boxes up the stairs and into the craft room, and yesterday I spent two hours putting them together. Wonderful! Except for the "little" problem that the two bigger ones were - too small. I bought the 23-1/2" wide ones, when I really meant to get the 31-1/2". In making this mistake, I ended up with less room for books than I started out with. Sooooo, today, back to IKEA. The smaller shelves will now hold books in the bonus room, and I'll spend another hour or so assembling and arranging books before I can reach my knitting needles. But it will be worth it. Yay for more bookshelf space!
Since I can't start Cinxia's sleeves, I've been knitting on the Sock Memories Shawl. While Cinxia, even though about 8" longer than when last seen, looks almost exactly the same as the picture in my last entry, the shawl is growing.
See the little houses? Some right side up, some upside down. Very clever and easy pattern. I think this would be a good choice for a first lace project.
Now, the aforementioned contest, which I'm calling "Show Me Your Socks." Just take a picture of your finished socks - ALL your finished socks - in their drawer/basket/bag, on the floor, on the cat, on the dog, whatever. Here's mine (except for the white ones which are all in the wash.)
Now, send me a link in the comments by midnight Friday, October 7, and you'll be entered to win some fabulous sock yarn (what else?) I'd show you a picture of what you can win, but the yarn is in the same place as the dpn's (see above if you skipped down to this part.) When the books are in place, I'll post a photo of the goods. Until then, use your imagination - pretty color, soft, wool, sock yarn. You know.
